Lockdown in 2020 lead to our first digital project. Skye Boat Song is traditionally about Bonnie Prince Charlie being disguised as a woman to travel to safety with the aid of another woman, in 1746. It has become well known in recent years with its use in the television show Outlander. Our recording was conducted by Jan Goodall, sound and video mixed with the aid of her brother Ian Knox, who hails from Ontario, Canada. Jan and Ian were able to work together across the seas, making this even more meaningful to us. This arrangement was written for SSA by Paul Langford.
We were commissioned by the Moonee Valley City Council and The Clocktower Centre to produce a video for the 2020 Remembrance Day ceremony which was conducted online. This video was conducted by Jan Goodall and mixed with the aid of Ian. The poem, In Flanders Fields, was set to choral music by Christine Donkin.
This performance of Cyndi Lauper's True Colours tied us together during lockdown. These projects gave us something to work toward in our weekly rehearsals. Who doesn't love a little 80's music?
